World Literacy Day

Literacy Day was celebrated at St Jude India ChildCare Centres. The aim was to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies. Several activities were conducted in the centres. Kids made posters and penned slogans and banners on literacy and even watched a film. Parents gave speeches on the importance of literacy and elaborated how education will help to better their life and the thrust they give on educating their kids.

One of the kids Chirakshi said, “I want to become a teacher and educate kids”.

Ayush’s grandmother said “A son and daughter should get an equal education”.

Khushi’s father “Education is very important for the development of human life. Through education, a man can understand the difference between right and wrong and thus get freed from superstition”.

All children and parents were able to write their name on the occasion of Literacy Day- the first step to being literate.
