International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is intended to celebrate the social, economic, political and cultural achievement of women. The theme for this year was Press for Progress – a global call to close the gender gap once and for all as we together press forward and embrace gender parity.

At St Jude, International Women’s Day was celebrated across all the centres.

Mumbai celebrated by giving bangles and mehendi to the mothers. The idea was to celebrate the sense of sisterhood they experience as they share with each other their joys and sorrows.

In Kolkata and Hyderabad, fathers made their wives feel special by making greeting cards. ‘We Celebrate You’ was the thought behind the greeting cards.

In Jaipur, Ms. Aparna Sahay, a director of the NGO Sandhan spoke to families about women’s empowerment.

In Delhi, fathers made snacks and tea for their wives. And then engaged in a healthy discussion on gender roles.
